Run Time is Back!

October 1st, 2009 by Team TwunLog No comments »

Run time is now being extracted from twuns. Your pace will be calcualted based on the distance you posted km/mi and added just under your mileage. Check it out after your next run!

In other news, distance is now listed once in the original measurement tweeted, km/mi and marked it as such. Just seems like what other services are doing.

UPDATE: Run time is only picked up if its in the form of 0:00:00 not 35:15.

TwunLog has been featured on everythingtwitter.com!

100,000 miles in 18 days

September 28th, 2009 by Team TwunLog No comments »

In its first 18 days, TwunLog has indexed 100,000+ miles from runners around the world. Maybe, just maybe someone you know has contributed to this list and is a follow twunner? If you tweet about your runs there is a good chance your listed at TwunLog, to find out simply add your Twitter name to the end of http://twunlog.com/ example http://twunlog.com/ScottTheRunner

Want TwunLog to build a list of runners to follow? When you sign in to TwunLog it will automatically find runners that your following on twitter and add them to those you’re following on TwunLog.

Now some charts…

Following Twunners

September 27th, 2009 by Team TwunLog No comments »

Following twunners at TwunLog allows you to compare your running progress against the progress of ANY runner on Twitter; decoupled. Those you follow at TwunLog do not sync with your Twitter account.

When you sign in to TwunLog the last 100 people you’ve followed at Twitter will be checked against all the runners at TwunLog, any matches will added automatically to your “Following” list on your twun page; twunlog.com/your_twitter_name. This sync will happen every time you log in.

Example twun page with following configured:

You can also follow runners inside TwunLog, this following does not sync with your twitter account, likewise when you unfollow someone in TwunLog it doesn’t sync with your twitter account.

The kilometer has arrived

September 27th, 2009 by Team TwunLog No comments »

TwunLog is now Kilometer aware, not totally integrated but all runs, no matter what they were tweeted as, will be listed with miles and kilometers. The 7 day history view on individual pages and all future reporting will see this change as well. For now know that all sorting is based on this new update.

Other improvements include “five mile run” will now be indexed properly. I have included the written out version of miles from 1-14&20. This list will increase over time. And lastly, major improvements in the accuracy of the algorithm that collects runs…. as long as your distance is an actual  distance and you are using proper English; run 4:.21 miles“  will never get indexed :) .

Lastly, I’ve dropped run duration, until site usage picks up. The number of ways that people enter their run time is daunting, not to mention the total lack of those that do. Feel free to keep adding the recognized duration format of 2:32:23 or 0:25:24 to your twuns since when it is implemented at a later date all the runs can be re-indexed.

Run Filter

September 23rd, 2009 by Team TwunLog 2 comments »

UPDATE: The filter is no longer indexing duration of run. (but will in the future).

The following are examples of valid entries, the keywords in bold what the filter is looking for.

VALID ENTRIES

  • I saw a vulture while doing my 12 mile run… I think it was waiting for me to die!
  • Ran 4.33 miles today. Time for dinner, season finale of #designstar and VMAs!

VALID ENTRIES w/TIME: (time will be used in the future, for now it is optional.)

  • Successfully completed a 6.5 mile run in 1:07:15 with no walking breaks.
  • Ran 7.71 miles in 0:50:47 @ 6:35/mile and feeling great!

INVALID ENTRIES or FAILED ENTRIES

  • Just pounded out 4 miles tonight in prep for my 12 mile run. (COMMENT: Wrong run captured. Filter doesn’t know what pounded out means.)
  • Finished some Taco Bell for lunch. Back to work, then the fair, then a 23 mile run tomorrow morning. (COMMENT: This simply isn’t a run, what is one to do.)
  • Ran the mile today. Blah but didn’t do to bad. 11:14 not perfect but I’m not dead either (COMMENT: This could be a future feature, written out distances, it’s been added to the list.)
  • 18 running miles (COMMENT: ‘running’ is not part of the filter)
  • 25miles (COMMENT: no space and no mention of ‘run’. 25-mile run would also fail.)
  • nothing special, but my weekend miles were 14.5 miles (COMMENT: ran 14.5 miles would have worked)

Follow Runners on Twitter?

September 23rd, 2009 by Team TwunLog No comments »

When you log into TwunLog it will automatically search those you’re following to see if they’re in TwunLog and automatically follow them on your page http://twunlog.com/your_twitter_name. Check it out!

Just a Note: The runners you follow on TwunLog do not sync with your Twitter followers. Think of TwunLog as an organized way to follow runners.

Beta

September 22nd, 2009 by Team TwunLog No comments »

The beta is ready for testing. OAuth is set up (authentication at TwunLog using your Twitter credentials), following of runners; rather ‘twunners’ and the summary of the last 7 days of those you are following. Just a note, the runners you follow on TwunLog do not sync with Twitter. I smell FAQ page.

Site Progress

September 20th, 2009 by Team TwunLog No comments »

OAuth has been configured as well as syncing the runners in the system with those you follow on twitter. Curious if any you follow is running? Login, find out and track their progress. The limit seems to be set at 100 of those you follow can be added. Will work on log editing of logs next.
